Tired of unsightly hair in unwanted areas? Now you can have long-term hair reduction of these areas with our Lumenis® LightSheer laser hair removal system. The in-office laser hair removal procedures are 15-60 minutes in duration depending on treatment area(s).
A single treatment may reduce the thickness and density of hair but multiple treatments are needed to provide the best results. A series of 4-6 treatments are administered 4-6 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments may be needed to keep an area completely free from hair. These maintenance treatments are usually at yearly intervals or longer depending on the treatment areas and the individual patient.
A laser hair removal consultation and skin type analysis is performed prior to the procedure to evaluate skin type, explain the procedure, review risks and outcomes, and to complete required medical paperwork. At the time of the consult it will be determined if a numbing cream may be prescribed to be applied two hours prior to your treatment time. The treatment area(s) need to be shaved the day before or the day of the procedure to ensure optimal results and decrease side effects. A test spot may be performed prior to your treatment depending on your skin type.
Patients with a history of cold sores/herpes should be sure and tell their provider so Valtrex can be prescribed to be started two days prior to treatment and taken a total of five days. Additionally, it is important that you do not have sun exposure of the treatment areas two weeks before and two weeks after the laser hair removal treatment to prevent burns and blistering. The underlying skin retains heat for up to two weeks after sun exposure making it more susceptible to burns and blistering.
