Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

The Lumenis Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments deliver a special range of light that pulses onto your skin. The light is absorbed either superficially by broken capillaries and dark pigment or deeper by larger vessels and collagen. Dilated capillaries coagulate, pigmented lesions darken and then slough off and new collagen fibers are laid down, giving the skin a renewed and more youthful appearance. IPL can be used to treat anywhere on the body with the most common areas being the face, neck, chest and hands.

The IPL treatment is a quick, in-office procedure that does not require oral or topical medications. You may feel a slight stinging like the snapping of a rubberband. Following the treatment you may look and feel like you have a mild sunburn lasting 1-3 days. There is no downtime and you can continue with your normal activities.

Depending on the number and severity of the treatment area(s), 4-6 treatments are typical and scheduled one month apart.
