As we age, facial lines and wrinkles become more visible. This is caused by muscle movement and decreased elasticity in our skin. BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein that is administered through a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for these lines and wrinkles between the brows and other areas of the face. BOTOX® Cosmetic blocks the release of a chemical that causes the muscles to contract enabling them to relax. This only affects the muscles that are injected and does not diminish the ability to smile, laugh or show expression.
BOTOX® Cosmetic is a quick and minimally invasive procedure consisting of a few tiny injections requiring no anesthetic. The entire procedure takes 15 minutes and there is no downtime. Discomfort is minimal and brief.
Following BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment a marked decrease in the treated facial lines and wrinkles is seen within a few days and this lasts up to four months. When the facial lines and wrinkles slowly start to return it is time for a follow-up treatment.
